You were my Father

A little girl walking on her Dad's feet as he held her hands.

You were my father.

Strict at times, yet always caring,

You were my father.

Meticulous in everything you did, never skimping on time or effort at the compromise of the finished project,

You were my father.

Knowledgeable, kind, generous and funny. So very funny.

You were my father. For 34 years.

You left us three days after your seventy-second birthday. Did you hang on for this? Or us?

Your loved ones came from near and far yesterday to say goodbye to you. I think you would've liked it.

Funny tales of neatly stacked woodpiles and fencing caused everyone to smile and laugh. And shed a tear.

People flowed out the door. To say goodbye to you.

My father.

You will be missed so much.

Goodbye Dad.

  21. That is a lovely tribute to your dad, I am so sorry you and your family have lost him. A dad like yours (and mine too) is a blessing, especcially to daughters. I compared and still do all men to my dad and there are but a few who in my opinion come near, luckily my husband is one of them (and wholly aproved of by my dad). My dad died in 1987 and I still miss him, but can remember him with a smile. I wish and hope the same goes for you.
